OK, it's soap box time again. . . . . . . . . . . You have been warned (again)

So, I was over at my friend's Stacy's blog and I read her most recent post in which she is talking about someone's comments on one of her posts and how they called her a "bad yarn shop customer" because she wrote about a bad experience she had at a yarn shop. That got me to thinking . . . . . (I'm channeling Carrie again - tee hee)

So, what are proper rules of etiquette in the world of blogging? Is it OK, to comment on someone's personal blog and tell them that they are wrong or "bad" or just be plain rude to them because you don't agree with a posting? Isn't a personal blog just that, personal ?

We put ourselves out here in the great unknown world in search of companionship and friendship with others who share in our interests, beliefs, goals, etc. but does that mean that we are also allowing people to then put down our thoughts and ideas? Does using the public forum of the internet mean that we are a public posting and therefore lose the personal side of a personal blog??? Just what ARE the rules?

Am I insane to think that a personal blog is in actuality a personal blog? Am I being completely naive?

I personally look at blogging as an invitation to others to enter your personal space (for lack of better terminology) and therefore should constitute use of what I like to call "guest manners". I would never comment on a blog in a way that would be disrespectful to the blogger, just like I would never speak or act disrespectfully when invited to someone's home. Now, I do know that in some posts the writer is inviting and actually asks for others' opinions and thoughts and is therefore opening the door for, oh let's just say, less than kind comments. However, I have also read plenty of posts in which the blogger feels wronged and even feels like not blogging anymore because of the negativity they are getting in the comments to their posts. Don't like what you are reading? I say, then either do not comment or do not read that blog anymore.

So, here's the question I pose (and YES this is one of those instances where I am asking for your opinions and realize that they may not be inline with my own):

What is the overall feeling with regard to blogging and commenting on blogs? Is a personal blog, personal or is it a venue just as public as a public forum?
What do you all think?

Tha FAB Lolly has done it again!

Lolly always comes up with the best ideas. So now, I am participating (along with all the other stuff!) in the Project Spectrum. How cool does that sound???? I must start thinking ahead although I think I already know what my first project will be (tee hee). You will all have to wait and see what it is!

As far as knitting, I have completed sock 1 of my 2000 socks first sock pair (huh?) Anywho, I've 1 down and 1 to go on pair #1 and I am casting on for sock #2 after I am done here. Yeah. I am really enjoying this pair. I am trying Lion Brand Magic Stripes in the blue/brown pattern colorway. I like it. Not like the ones I did in the denim (I still don't get why everyone but ME liked those?).

I have picked up my beaded shawl again. Yippee! I forgot how much I enjoyed knitting on that since I put it down for the christmas teacher gifts.

Lastly, I started another cabled knit purse, this time in cranberry (it will have black handles and a black velvet ribbon). This will be gifted to a very wonderful and generous coworker who gifted this to me out of the blue for xmas. I was going to make her something from the book but she commented on how much she loved my purse, so purse it is!

I love to knit! Did you all know that???

Well, isn't THIS just dandy?

What really sucks is that this is SOOOOOO just like me! Sigh!

Fit fit fits.
You will perish of fits. Repeat this to yourself:
"Things can work out even if I don't get
my way. Things can work out even...."

I throw myself at the mercy of the court!

"I Confess, I Confess!" I cry out in shame after coming to the realization that I am a criminal. Yes my friends, aware of it or not, I was a THIEF! Completely unaware but nonetheless a THIEF!

I was guilty and now shamedly confess to stealing. . . . . BANDWIDTH! I didn't know I was doing it, I swear! Here's the scoop,

It was brought to my attention today by Julie that I was 'hotsynching' from her site to use her button on my blog. "I am WHAT???" asked I incredulously. We had a very nice and informative little email chat about bandwidth stealing and what that entailed. Seems like I had inadvertently done this to her with one of the webrings I belong too (knitting blogs webring to be exact). She was kind enough to explain how to fix the problem and I remedied the situation toute suite! (sp?)

So, after feeling horribly weighed down with the bad karma of being a thief, I checked all the other buttons on the blog. Seems as if I had done some correctly and done some others incorrectly! Aghast! I was a thief multiple times over! YIKES!

Needless to say, I have very quickly remedied the situation for ALL the pix on my blog and now have a crystal clear conscious regarding my honesty.

Seriously though, I truly had no idea what 'hotsynching' was and that I was so guilty of it. I have fixed them all and I apologize to all of you that I may have wronged.

Friends still??????
